Upsell


In VPCart 9.0, we have added new module “Upsell”. This feature is available in Modules Manager administration.

What is Upsell?

Upsell feature will help merchants to make more money on every sale by offering one or  more additional products right inside the shopping cart popup.


Below is the sample of upsell feature in the cart popup:

If you see the above screenshot, after we add item “Fugiat Nulla Pariatur” to cart, we will see the cart modal and below the item we added, it will display the Upsell products that we setup in the administration.

Using this Upsell feature will help merchants with the following:
- Increase your average sales order size.
- Display a targeted offer to customers who are already buying and entice them to spend more.
- it’s a lot easier to sell to existing customers with a with targeted product recommendations.
- Offering the right upsell at the right time can win customer loyalty.

Take note, by default Upsell can display max of 4 items and if you have more than 4 Upsell items, customers can see the arrows to browse the next Upsell items:

How To Use This Module

Prequisition: You must set config xproductstayonpage set to Yes.

The Upsell settings can be located by going to your administration menu on top: Modules > Modules Manager > locate the module name “Upsell” > click Edit button as shown in the screenshot below:

Below is the explanation of the configurations in the edit module for Upsell:

 

A. Do you want to enable Upsell modules?

Set this to Yes to enable Upsell feature.



B. Only load upsell items from Upsell CatalogIDs


B1. Set to Yes if you want to load upsell products from “Upsell CatalogIDs” (Refer to Section C).

This also means if you want all products when customers add them to cart, the upsell items showing in the cart modal will be globally loaded from value in the “Upsell CatalogIDs”.

B2. Set to No if you want to load upsell products from each individual product field “upsell”.

This also means you want certain products to show different upsell items.

To setup different upsell items for certain products, please follow the steps below:

1.  Go to Store > Products menu in the top and click View/Edit.

2.  Edit a product you want. In this example, I edit a sample product called “FUGIAT NULLA PARIATUR”.

3.  Scroll down and locate the Upsell section as shown in the screenshot below:

4.  Click the Upsell section to expand it.

 

5.  Type / search the product you want to add them to the upsell.

6.  Click the item you want from the search result and it will be added.

Example, I added item “VOLUPTATE VELIT” (catalogid 1).

7.  Repeat the search for other products you want to show as upsell items for the products you are editing.

8.  Click Update Record button.

 

Now, let’s see the change in the front store. Example below showing the previous product we have edited “FUGIAT NULLA PARIATUR”. We will add the product to cart.

You will then see the cart modal for the product you have added to cart and also the upsell item “VOLUPTATE VELIT” which you have added to the Upsell list before.

C. Upsell CatalogIDs


This is the global products to be added to the Upsell. Simply type / search for the product name you want to add to Upsell and search result will show the list you can pick.

Click the plus sign (+) to add the item to Upsell.

Take example, we add the first result item to Upsell “CONSECTETUR ADIPISCING”.

Then it will show the item is added:

Next, if you only want to use this global Upsell products, you need to set “Only load upsell items from Upsell CatalogIDs” to Yes.

Remember to click Update Record to save your change.

Now, let’s see the example below. We still use the previous sample product “FUGIAT NULLA PARIATUR” that we’ve already set individual Upsell item “VOLUPTATE VELIT”.
With recently we set to use global Upsell to load item “CONSECTETUR ADIPISCING”, below is the result:

You can see above, the Upsell item if we add product “FUGIAT NULLA PARIATUR” to cart, is now showing global Upsell item “CONSECTETUR ADIPISCING” and is no longer showing individual Upsell item “VOLUPTATE VELIT”.

 

 

 

 

Software Configurations Used For Upsell


Beside using Modules Manager to update the settings for Upsell module, you can also

set from the Software Configuration in the administration.

The following Software Configuration options control this feature:

xupsell

Set to Yes to enable Upsell feature.

xupsell_catalogids

Catalogids for upsell.
Separated by comma.
eg 6,25,36

xupsell_globalonly

Set to Yes if you want to load upsell products from “Upsell CatalogIDs”.

This also means if you want all products when customers add them to cart, the upsell items showing in the cart modal will be globally loaded from value in the “Upsell CatalogIDs”.

Set to No if you want to load upsell products from each individual product field “upsell”.

This also means you want certain products to show different upsell items.
