“Diagnostic Manager” is one of the new features in
VPCART8.00. This feature allows merchants to scan the available server
components for running the site. It also allows merchants to know what the
current running session names are in your VPCart site. You can also run a quick
database connection using this feature and perform a folder permission check.
Lastly, you can run a test email using this feature.
Diagnostic Manager
is located inVPCART Control Panel :Misc » Diagnostic Manager.
Basically,
the Diagnostic Manager consists of five submenus:
A. Server
Components
This tool allows you to run a complete check to find out what
components are available in your current server.
Let’s say we want to
know if Persits ASP JPEG is installed in your server, then just run this
Server Component tool and you should see the result listed. See example
below:
B.
Session
This Session tool is more for expert administratorswho want to
know what are the list of session variable names currently running in your
VPCart site.
C. Database
This tool will
help you diagnose any problems with your database settings. You can test your
Access/SQL SERVER/MYSQL database connection using this tool.
There are
two methods here:
METHOD 1: Test using
the settings in your shop$config.asp file. Just click the button and it will
show the result. This first method is for Access database use where you can test
database folder read/write permission.
METHOD 2: Test using
your own settings. Just fill in the form with the settings you wish to test and
click the button to test custom settings.
For SQL SERVER and MYSQL database
testing, you can ignore the last field “Database Location”. The last field is
only for sites using a database type Access or Drive.
D. Folder
Permissions
With this tool, you can scan any of your existing root
folders in your site and you can find out what folders have read/write
permissions. This tool not only scans V8 folders, but all of your existing
custom folders as well, and it also displays the result.
E.
Email
This tool allows you to test sending an email so that you can know
if your site is able to send email using the configurations you have entered.
Simply fill in the required fields into the textbox and click theTest
Email button. You can also save your current email settings if you
want to test again later. Click the Save Email Settings for future use so
you do not need to enter the fields again.
