Products &Subcategories Links

VPCART determines that a category has subcategories if the field hassubcategory is filled in with ANYTHING. If you see a link to Subcategories under a category and it doesn’t have any subcategories, edit the category record and remove anything in the hassubcategory field.

If a category has subcategories, click on the Products link to see all the products in this category and click on Subcategories to see the subcategories.

A subcategory in VPCART is simply a category that has a value in the highercategoryid field of the category record. A top-level category has 0 in that field, meaning it is the highest level.

If there are subcategories inside a parent category, the subcategories in the left side bar can be expanded if a customer hovers over the parent category. Below is the screenshot of the subcategories display:

In the example above, if we hover over the category “Living”, the subcategories “Coffee tables” and “Seating” will be displayed on the right side. With this feature, search engines can read the subcategories easily.
