Adding / editing / deleting product features

Features are defined in the prodfeatures table. You can add new and edit existing features using the VPCART Administration by going to Store > Products >Click “Features” tab.

To add a new feature, click “Add a Record”.

 

To edit an existing feature, click the icon in the Edit column next to Products.

 

To delete an existing feature, click the icon in the Edit column next to Products, and click the link “Delete Feature Entirely

 

The screenshot below showswhat happens when you click “Add a Record” to create a new feature:

Click “See All Feature Fields Displayed” if you want to see all fields in the form.The form will be displayed as shown the screenshot below:

If you want to add more options to the feature, e.g. you want add the options for “Width” in the example above to have options : 100,200,300,400,500,600,700,800,900,1000,1100,1200,1300. Then in the “Add more options” dropdown menu, choose 2 (you want to add another 1200and 1300). It will automatically add two more fields at the bottom, so you can fill in the options 1200and 1300. Click Save Changes once you are done. See the screenshot below :

If you want to see the form in reduced fields displayed, click “See Reduced Fields Displayed”, and the form will be displayed in the default form as in the screenshot below:

VPCART enhances the functionality of the product features. As you can in the screenshot below, administrator can know which products is using certain features. For example, product “Cordless Electric Kettle” and “Cutlery Set Steak Knives Stainless Steel Kitchen Knife” are having feature “Width”.

Below is the definition of the fields used in product features :

Caption (featurecaption)

This is the caption to appear with the feature.

Featurename (featurename)

The unique name of this feature. For example, it could be the color. If you have two other colors available, you will have two other records with different colors.

Featureprice (featureprice)

A feature can be free or have a price.

Type (featuretype)

One of the allowed feature types: radio, dropdown, selectlist, checkbox, usertext, quantity. These are described in the next section.

MultiValue (featuremulti)

If the customer is allowed to choose multiple different features from this one group, set to Yes.

Feature Required  (featurerequired)

If set to Yes,it means that selecting from this collection of features is required.

Default (featuredefault)

If set to Yes, then this is the default selected feature.

Featurepercent

A percentage of the cost of the main product that should be used as the price for the feature. eg. If featurepercent is set to 10, then the cost of the feature when added to a $10 product will be $1.

Featureimage

An image to be displayed when the feature is displayed

Featureweight

Weight used in shipping calculations

Featureother

Unused.
