Step 1. Firstly, Go to VPCart administration: Misc >> Database tool from the top menu
Step 2. Say you want to add a new column to Categories table called specialcat with text field type and field length 5 in the SQL SERVER Database
Step 3. Type in sql syntax in a text editor, and save it as a text file, for example. addcustomfields.txt, and upload it to admin folder
Step 4. Enter the text file name that you have uploaded to admin folder, here addcustomfields.txt
Step 5. Click Convert button, to execute the SQL query
Step 6. Click, Reload your configuration link
Step 7. Now go to the categories page to view the newly created column named specialcat
