How to setup VPCart 9 to use Your Own Mail Server
Step 1. Login to VPCart administration and mouse over to top menu: Advanced settings > Software configuration
Step 2. Click 'Site Details' link
Step 3. Fill in the mail server details as in the description shown against each box.
Step 4. xemail : Enter your merchant email here.
Step 5. xemailssmtpport : Please enter your SMTP port. You will need to ask your hosting provider for this. For customers hosted with vpcart can use port 25 or 587
Step 6. xemailsmtpusessl: Set to Yes if your SMTP is using SSL for sending email. You will need to ask your hosting provider for this.
Step 7. xemailsystem: Please enter your smtp server address. The customers hosted with vpcart can use 'localhost' or 'mail.domainname.com'(replace domainname.com with actual domain name). Or can be just an IP address.
Step 8. xemailtype: Please select CDOSYS as the default
Step 9. xemailusername: Please enter your mail authentication username. For example [email protected]
Step 10. xemailpassword: Please enter your mail authentication password. Here enter password of [email protected]
Step 11. Click 'Continue'
Step 12. You can test if your custom SMTP entered above will be able to send email by using our mail testing page
Step 13. For this go to Misc > Diagnostic Manager
Step 14. Click the 'Email' tab
Step 15. It will populate your exisitng SMTP details. Simply enter the Sender Email, Recipient Email and Email subject to start a test.
Step 16. Click Test Email
Step 17. The message PASS will be shown if the mail sent successfully.
Step 18. Check the recipient email inbox to see if you got the test email
