How to create or schedule backup in plesk

Create Manual Backup 

1. Login to plesk control panel.

2. Click Websites & Domains in the left side menu and then click Backup Manager on the right side menu.

3. Click Backup

4. Under Backup content, select what you want to include in the backup. Domain configuration is always included in backups. You can choose to exclude 'Mail configuration and content' and/or 'User files and databases' by clearing the corresponding checkboxes.

5. Under Store in, you can change where the backup must be stored. By default, backups are stored on the Plesk server. If you have configured remote storage, you can store backups in the remote ftp storage.

6. In the Type section, select whether you want a full backup or incremental backup

7. Under Backup settings, customize the backup settings that you want to use.

8. Click OK. Plesk starts the backup immediately.


Create a Scheduled Backup

1. Login to plesk control panel.

2. Click Websites & Domains in the left side menu and then click Backup Manager on the right side menu.

3. On the Backup Manager page, click Schedule.

4. Under Run this backup task set the desired frequency and the time the backup process must be started.

5. Select whether to use incremental backups. By default, every scheduled backup is created as a full backup. To allow the creation of incremental backups, select the Use incremental backup checkbox. Incremental backups contain only the files that have changed since the last backup. 

6. Under Keep backup files for, type a number in the field if you want Plesk to automatically remove outdated full backups. Full backups stored longer than the specified time period will be automatically removed.

7. Customize the backup settings as mentioned in creating a manual backup .

8. Click OK and Plesk will configure the scheduled backup.


Restoring a backup file

1. Login to plesk control panel.

2. Click Websites & Domains in the left side menu and then click Backup Manager on the right side menu.

3. Click the backup you want to restore.

4. Under Backup content, next to What do you want to restore?, select one of the following options:

Selected objects: Select this option if you want to restore specific items.

All objects (entire system): Select this option if you want to restore the entire site.

5. Under Restoration options, customize the restore settings that you want to use.

6. Click Restore. Plesk restores the backup.

You will be returned to the Websites & Domains > Backup Manager screen where you can see the backup being restored. The restoration process can take some time to finish, depending on the size of the content being restored. A notification will come up on this screen once the backup has been restored.
