How to Integrate Freshdesk Widget Into VPCart


Freshdesk is a cloud-based helpdesk software which streamlines customer conversations across channels like email, social media, phone and chat. With a powerful suite of intuitive features that focus on productivity and collaboration, it makes it easy for teams of all sizes to ensure a great support experience for customers. Freshdesk is used today by over 150,000 customers across industries, including Bridgestone, HP, Harvard University and DHL.

If you want your customers query / issue to be submitted as a helpdesk ticket, you can provide the Freshdesk form in your VPCart site, so your customers can just enter their issue from the form on your site.

You will first need to register an account with Freshdesk. After you have an account, you can get the widget code from your merchant panel.

How to Get The Freshdesk Widget Code
To get the widget code, please follow the steps below:

1. Login to your Freshdesk merchant panel:
https://accounts.freshworks.com/login

2. Enter your email and password and click SIGN IN button.



3. After logged in, click the bottom left icon as shown below:



4. Under Freshdesk, click your existing account there.



5. You should see the Dashboard area. Locate the very bottom icon "Admin" and click on it.



6. Click the Feedback Widget



7. Click the Embedded Widget.

8. Enter the label fields to suit your liking eg:
Form Heading: Submit a ticket
Form Submit Button: Send
Form Submit Message: Thank you for submitting a ticket to us. Our team will reply you soon.
Form height: 500
Form options: please enable all the options there.



9. At the end of the form, there is a big text box "Embedded Widget code", the code inside the textbox is generated automatically for you. Please copy the code.



There are some alternative places in your VPCart site that you can insert the Freshdesk widget code:

A. Display Freshdesk Widget in Left or Right column via Layout Manager.

Take example, we want to display the Freshdesk widget in the right column, below are the steps:

1. Login to your VPCart administration and go to top menu: Website > Layout Manager



2. Locate the right column and scroll down to bottom and click Add Box button.


3. There should be a new empty box created. Click edit / pencil icon.



4. It will expand the right panel, and in the " " dropdowns, choose "Body Free Text".



5. And the rest of the fields to be entered as below:

Enable: Yes
Share with Mobile: Yes
Label Name: leave empty
Seq No.: Enter the sequence eg 01
Display With Box: leave empty
Display Text: Click Source button as shown below:



Please paste your previous copied widget code from Freshdesk site into the big text box.



The big text box will now having the Freshdesk widget code as shown below:



Click the Source button again.



And please click Save button now. You will see message "Container modified successfully!"

6. Go to your VPCart front store and locate the right column. You should see the new Freshdesk widget. Below is the preview in right column:



B. Display Freshdesk Widget in a content page Using Page Manager.

1. Login to your VPCart administration and go to top menu: Store > Page Manager



2. Click Add a Record button.



3. Enter the fields as below eg:
Page Title: Helpdesk
Content Header: Submit a Ticket
Use as homepage? No
Content Body: Please click the "Source" button as shown below:



Please paste the Freshdesk widget code that you've copied before from Freshbet site.



Click the Source button again.

4. Click Add a Record button.



5. Now, you should have the content page for Freshdesk widget created. You can preview the new page by accessing eg:
http://www.example.com/shopcontent.asp?type=Helpdesk

Note: Change the example.com with your VPCart domain.

6. You can create a new top navigation menu from the Menu Manager so that your customers able to access the new Helpdesk menu.
Example below we try to create a new top menu called Helpdesk from the Menu Manager.



7. Go to your VPCart front store and locate the top navigation bar, you should see the new Helpdesk menu now.



8. When customers click the Helpdesk menu, they can see the Freshdesk form and they can submit a ticket to you.

Merchants can login to their Freshdesk account and check any tickets their customers have submitted for them.
